notes
Originally from Seattle, Brian's music is spirited and engaging, accompanied by lyrics that are smooth
and authentic. A fun mix of vintage pop and indie rock have fused together in Fennell's much anticipated
release, "Safety Songs". The feel of the record ranges from upbeat and poppy, to slow and epic. From tasteful string
arrangements and warm acoustics to driving piano and crunchy electrics, Safety Songs has something
for virtually every listener.
Over the last several years, Brian has been playing an increasing amount of solo and band shows around
the greater Seattle area to an ever growing fan base. Playing large coffee shops to standing room only crowds,
or small bars to fifty people, he has been charming area audiences with his highly accessible personality,
entertaining live show, and powerful sound.
After recording his first full-length album, Fennell joined with three of his close friends to form a band. Still without a name, this band offers a powerful and high-energy live show, but still manages to incorporate an intimate singer-
songwriter quality that leaves listeners satisfied, but wanting more.
With a sound as multi-format as Brian Fennell's, the sky is literally the limit for him and his band in years
to come.

Original, Unique, and Rockin'
author: Barcelona LOVERTo the reviewer below me. You should define "good" and "indie-pop" before you bring up Barcelona (the band that existed for two years in DC before breaking up). If you calling Brian an idiot makes you feel better after listening to how much better his band is than that old, dated, poser band from DC, so be it. You should listen to this Barcelona's music, go see them live, and speak with them afterwards. Do this before you judge them. But, until then, go listen to your idea of "good indie-pop".
Way to steal another band's name
author: BarcelonaWhy didn't this idiot just name his band Pearl Jam or something? There is already a good indie pop band named Barcelona who have three CDs out. How hard was it to look on allmusic.com before you named your band?
One of the greatest albums in 2006.
author: eastechoI listened to it for almost 30 times! It's great! Just buy it!

Listen to this at work, it provides a great backdrop. Part early John Mayer, balladsy Ben Folds, and scene shifts reminiscent of Coldplay.
Hard to find music like this...
author: ElanaEach track holds your attention and all the lyrics are carfully thought out, Just an all around great listen!
Love it, perfect soundtrack material.
author: AlayaOkay, this band (now named Barcelona) is seriously my new musical obsession! I'm so proud they are from Seattle, I'm in Portland, and I can't wait to drive up there and see them live. The lyrics are real, and the sound intoxicating. I can see some of the songs being part of the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack...or attached to a really good movie. Love, love, love B. Fennel's voice; he's soulful and sexy. Sounds like they're influenced by Coldplay, the Beatles, Guster, and many more great musicians...buy this c.d.!
Best CD ever!
author: KellyMy teacher knows Brian and asked him to come to our classroom. He totally rocks and this is the greatest CD!
amazing
author: anonymousthis album is simply amazing, the beautiful vocals, touching lyrics and catchy music leave you happy and breathless. this is definetly the best album i have purchased. brian fennell hits everything prefectly, and his band, brian e, chris, and rhett do a beautiful job of backing it all up. i absolutley adore every song on this album, and recommend it. i think everyone will enjoy this indie pop style album. well done barcelona.
Simply Amazing.
author: AnonymousThis CD is, as the title states, simply amazing. Fennell uses his wide vocal range in just the perfect dose, not exaggerating, but giving the audience subtle, but STRONG, hints of exactly how amazing his voice is. Eichelberger, Bristol, and Stonelake create an amazing accompaniment with a large assortment of instruments from the bass to a glockenspiel. WELL DONE! This CD is bound to be HUGE.
Why are these songs not getting air time?
author: Alan ShermanThere are at least 2 songs on this album deserving of air time, Colors and Response are my choices. The song Colors is better than half the songs out there today and its a shame the music industry is more of who you know and how much ass can you kiss than how good a song is. This guy has talent. I wish the big wigs in the industry could put aside their egos and let music as good as this be heard. If it wasn't for CD baby... myself and a few others would never know he exsists. Great work Brian and I really enjoy your music.

what a friend can do
author: antje brewerso...i have known Brian through church for the last couple years...when he played with Brian E. at the 2005 Fallout Retreat he also let people know that he had a new CD out. it was for sale there but i had, convieniently, no money on me about a month or so later i found Brian on MySpace and added him as a friend, immediatly asking him where i could find his CD...he referenced me here and now i listen to it almost every day. I am amazed at how well he has done, i knew that it would be amazing but still...WOWZERS! props to you Brian and keep it real okay?! Much love-antje
i love the CD!
author: BarbaraThis CD is awesome. I listen to it all the time. Colors is pretty much the best song in the world!

Ben Folds fans, hold onto your hat. Brian Fennell strikes a similar chord, but not too similar. While he uses his voice in a similar way and has that distinctive spunky approach to his pop songs, he navigates unexplored territory and wraps his harmonies around guitar pop and power pop all the same. His songs seem to soar and find their own wings among the mainstream scene. With a touch of simplicty, a touch of grit and a transparent heart, "Safety Songs" checks in as one fun little pop record.
I love safety songs!
author: Mindy ConnersThis CD rocks, best album that I have ever purchased. The songs help you get through the day, and the last 2 through the night, I love it and if you don't own it yet, boy are you missing out. Not to mention Brian Fennell's voice is heavenly. Too bad it can only get 5 stars I think 500!! would be more appropraite.
