These musical pieces follow generally along the "pop - rock" musical path, a very wide path it is. If I were to add tags to the musical styles, I would say that there is some variation, from rock to blues to reggae to festival, jazz, ballad, and it continues. These are all popular styles, yes, but the pop music span is so wide, it has become a catch-all category.
These songs are primarily guitar instrumentals. I am making use of the Fender Telecaster, Gibson ES-175 and Ovation guitars and the Fender Jazz Bass. Some songs, such as Perioden der Sonne and Notes To Carlos, were composed on keyboard. The sounds of Piano, Fender Rhodes, Vibraphone, Hammond Organ, Harp and Trumpets, as well as Drums and Percussion, were all performed by Yours Truly on the Roland XP-80 Music Workstation. Some songs, such as Red Stripes and Sashimi Bliss, evolved from jamming with odd sequencer rhythms, using the Boss Dr. Rhythm DR-770 sequencer.
There are some changes to the styles of play seen in this album. I am wandering around in a few musical styles. No harm in that. The styles:
Rock - Pop (Old Roads New Ways, Roadway E, Ridin' Out)
Blues (On The Other Hand)
Ballad (Vampfire, Perioden der Sonne)
Reggae (Red Stripes)
Festival (July 32)
Circus (Alfresco Row)
Jazz (Notes to Carlos)
Two songs from an early album are dusted off and receive new light with the help once again of that bold and wonderful flutist, Wendy Herbener Mehne. It is a great pleasure to bring you this new music ! I hope you enjoy the song ideas and the sounds.
