ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Brian McKenzie started his career as writer and guitarist for the rock band “Kilgore (Smudge)” in the mid 90s, with whom he was soon signed to Unsound Records, a subsidiary of Giant Records. After years of touring and performing, Brian parted ways with the band, and with heavy rock all together. He has since developed into a singer songwriter who takes elements of the country/roots blend of Americana and adds his clean, smooth vocal style to create a sound once described by a club owner as “Ameri-Crooner”. He draws on influences that range from the crooners of the 1940s and 50s, to early country and rockabilly, rock, and the songwriters of today. Brian blends the ingredients into a cohesive, well mixed drink that you can easily get lost in.

Brian had released 2 solo albums before releasing “Resolution”, his most mature and polished album to date. The Recording Academy placed Brian McKenzie on the Official Ballot for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards in the following categories for his album “Resolution”:

Best Country Solo Performance "Because of You"
Best Country Song "Isabel" and "Tennessee"
Best Country Album "Resolution"
Best Short Form Music Video "Waiting For You"

He has also co-written songs in Nashville that have been put on hold with popular artists such as Tim McGraw, has been endorsed by San Fransisco’s "Blueridge" guitars, Shubb Capos, and LR Baggs electronics, appeared on "The Rhode Show" on Fox 64 TV, Rhode Island, and is presently performing throughout the Northeast at venues such as “Toad” in Cambridge, MA, “National Underground” in NYC, and “Blue”, in Portland, ME, with his multi-talented band lineup.

Resolution
If you like that one of a kind feeling you get when you hear your favorite song then this is the album for you! From Brian's strong voice to the Americana meets Rock N Roll sound of the accoustic guitar you will quickly become a fan of his music. Resolution has some sit back & enjoy tracks, some sing along tracks and also has a good driving song, track # 1 40 East.

Start to finish
Don’t let the genre fool you. You don’t have to be a fan of Country or Americana music to enjoy Resolution. Brian McKenzie starts off this gem of a record with a track that was made for the road- a breeze in your hair, bangin’ on the wheel to the beat, driving song, 40 East. With perfect track placement, Brian keeps you going with Ruined The Air then takes it down a notch to showcases his sultry, crooner voice on Never Like It’s Been. Following is one of my favorite tracks, Isabel. This song is perfection. The Country side shines through in Tennessee, Because of You and the Americana influence reigns on For Rose. Waiting for You brings a welcomed, darker tone (check out the great video for this song) and delivers excellent harmonies that are consistent throughout the album. Another great driving tune, Summertime Without You, pleasantly surprises before the record closes with a Charlie Rich cover, done simply and tastefully, while showcasing Brian’s vocal range and ability.
Resolution is a well-rounded, well-produced, easy to love record. You can listen, start to finish, without the desire to skip over tracks, and learn the words with ease and sing along. There is an honesty behind the songs which makes them believable, memorable and leaves you wanting more.
Who will the next fool be? You, if you don’t own Resolution!
