Brian Schroeder is a recovering sinner and a follower of Jesus Christ. He enjoys hammocks and iced tea and Disney movies and rollerblades and cooking and many other things that would make this sentence even more of a run-on than it already is. (He also enjoys grammar.) Oh, and he’s a musician.
Even before his initial decision and call to follow Christ during his sophomore year of high school, Brian had already been riding the rollercoaster of the “crazy plans” God had for him; he just wasn’t necessarily buckled in. At that time he had already been leading the music at a church in Holmen, and had produced a CD of all Christian music titled “In the Shadow of Your wings…I Sing.” All the profit from the CD ($15,000) was donated to the church to raise funds for a building project.
Shortly after the release of his first CD, Brian became acquainted with the God about Whom he was singing, and his life was wrecked (“wrecked” meaning “affected in an incredibly intense and wonderful way”) from there on out. Brian quickly realized that he had entered God’s plan for him a little late; he buckled in and went wherever God led him.
In his junior year of high school, he released “Lifting Up,” a spirited tribute to his newly found Savior. It was the summer of that same year that he founded “Overflow: Worship for the Living God,” a ministry movement dedicated to digging deeper into spirituality and breaking down unnecessary walls within Christianity. The movement, led by Anna Lamm, Johnny Schuetz, Chris Sesvold, and himself, spread quickly in a Holmen, Wisconsin church that first summer.
Brian released his third CD project in November of 2007. It was a Christmas CD titled “I Heard the Bells,” which was received warmly. In the summer following, Overflow Ministries was revamped and continued at a very welcoming and supportive church in Onalaska, Wisconsin. The ministry, now “Overflow: The Movement,” was incredibly successful, this time focusing not only on worship within the Christian Church, but also worship outside of it.
Brian’s current ministry is God’s Call is Loud, an online blogcast movement dedicated to helping people be Christ-followers in our world today it is featured on his website, BrianSchroederMusic.com. His most recent work is Alpha&Omega, a new CD with 14 original songs. After three years of preparation, it was released in August of 2008. It is Brian’s most appreciated work so far.
Brian is a sophomore at Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. His major is Reconciliation Studies, a study program unique to Bethel that focuses on social justice issues. He hopes to become a “voice” (through song, word, and deed) of peace in our country. But most importantly, Brian is following Christ in the best way he can and continuing his ministry—a ministry that has been a reflection of the crazy road God has laid out for him.
