A Cold Hard Winter

by Brick City Cowboys

A new country band with a retro sound reminiscent of the "Urban Cowboy" era - and from Newark, NJ of all places. With two original compositions dedicated to Merle Haggard thrown in for good measure, this just may be where country's future is headed.

Album Notes
Our first EP is being released and includes a couple of Merle Haggard tribute songs. Who's Merle Haggard? Wow. Think of Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan all rolled into one. He was probably the first legitimate "bad boy" of country music and wrote some of the best songs in country music history. He was also one of the contributors of the "Bakersfield Sound" of the 60's and early 70's on country AM radio. Actually one of our tribute songs to Merle is our title song called "It's Been A Long Cold Hard Winter" which is appropriate to the weather most of us have been having around the country, am I right? The other is entitled "This Time Next Year I Want To Be In California" which goes along with the west coast theme that Merle used in some of his songs like "You've Got A Friend In California". We have a ballad on there called "My Woman's Love" that we feel anyone who's been married to a good woman for a while can relate to. Single guys who haven't taken the plunge yet for whatever reason should check out "A Wanted Man" and "The Man In The Three Piece Suit" to see what they've been missing. Last, but not least, the two potential singles from the disk "She Don't Want To Be Found" and "She's The Girl That Got Away" are reminiscent of the "Urban Cowboy" era sound in country music that might be making a comeback. All in all I guess you can say we did a good job of covering relationships in our seven songs here; from being single to getting married and raising a family to breaking up and starting all over again. Oh well, C'est La Vie which I think is French for "That's life!" Anyway, speaking for my band of brothers I just want to say thanks for reading and hopefully buying the EP, or at least checking it out, and hopefully contributing to our charitable cause called BAT (Bands Against Tragedy - see our website www.BrickCityCowboys for more details). See you all on the Facebook and the Twitter.
