For 6 strong years, Brighter Shade has been blowing the doors off venue after venue across the US.
With their unique blend of aggressive songwriter power pop, 2 albums, and over 100 cities under their belt, Brighter Shade continues to bring its audiences the absolute best in performance quality, musicianship and entertainment.
John Hopkins' crushing baritone and heartfelt lyrics combined with Andy Birdsall's flawless tenor, Wilder Embry's thundering bass, Damian Cartier's jazz-hop keyboarding, and John Woodward's rock solid drumming have often earned Brighter Shade comparisons to bands like Soundgarden, Ani Difranco, Tantric, and Pearl Jam, Their latest release, Divine Ignorance, has met with strong listener and critical enthusiasm and continues to light up faces and ears all over the southeastern US.

I listened to John Hopkins on the Rockboat and ordered both Brighter Shade CDs when I got home. They stay in my CD player. My friends and family now know all the songs! Order them, you won't be sorry!

Even more eclectic than their last CD! It's VERY good, with some cool new direc

I loved this CD! I am still listening to it, so I am liking it more with every listen, but it's great! The band has gone in to some new musical territory. This is one of those CD's that if you just listen to one track, you don't get a full idea of their sound. They go in a dozen different directions and do every one of them well. The lyrics are as great as ever, the music is fantastic. The only let down (if you call it that) is that there weren't enough tracks to allow more of certain styles. Breakdown is one of the tracks that really ventures out, and I would have liked to hear more similar tracks. Buy their first CD, then once you are hooked come back for this one! ;-)
