ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
One evening circa 199, I had a fall out with my lovely girlfriend, over something that neither of us could remember in the morning ! At two O'Clock in the morning I came downstairs for a drink and sat down in the lounge, took a pen & manuscript paper and wrote this song in 15 minutes flat ! I decided to sing and play it in my local pub one night when it brought the house down !

That night I had over 30 requests to repeat my performace, especially from the lovely older West Indian ladies and I was still there at 2 AM singing it like a record which had got stuck ! Eventually I couldn't walk down the street without people whistling and shouting "Sing the Wheely Bin Song Martin" ! Somebody nick named me "Brighton Early" because I used to get up in the dark to go fishing at 5 AM !

I decided to record it one day , after I had moved back to London from Abingdon in Oxfordshire circa 1998 ! I booked a small studio in Ealing and eventually made the track circa 1999 ~ I asked my old friend, trumpet player Ian Cameron to play the trumpet part (s) a few months after ~ and so here is the finished article available on CDBABY on a computor near you, from the USA !

I always knew that the ladies loved the lyrics because for 30 years, some of them would have loved to chase their dominant husbands and boyfriends in to the Wheely Bin !

I have always thought that coloured people have a much cooler sense of humour than us white people ~ and so I decided to adopt a semi-Jamaican accent, when I walked into the studio and for me at least, it seems to work well ! As for myself, since 1960, I have been a guitarist and circa 1966, I became one of the top London Session Guitarists in the Studios !

Over my 52 years of playing guitar, i was lucky enough to play guitar on more than 100,000 tracks, 40 of which reached NO 1 in the UK charts, plus all 122 MUPPET SHOWS 1976 ~ 1980 up at the ATV studios in Borehamwood, with the Jack Parnell Band !

The first time that I saw this band, was in 1955, when my Father, Eric Kershaw, the author of the world's biggest selling Music book "Dance Band Chords for the Guitar", was playing guitar for a young Shirley Bassey at the old ATV studios in WOOD GREEN !

After I joined the band many years later, I kept quiet about being Eric's Son for 5 years, because I didn't wish to become a "Daddie's Boy" and the lads were all shocked when I revealed the fact !

I was on holiday in London, when I was 11 years old and my Father and I had to rush up to the ATV studios to fill in for Jack Parnell's guitarist Dave Goldberg, who had a health problem !

I retired in 2007, due to ill health ~ and I am now writing my comical memoirs in the 100 strong series of my "Strange But True" tales (2 ~5 minute read) on FACEBOOK !

If you would like to know what went on backstage on all these huge concerts for Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross, Bob hope, Fred Astaire, Dean Martin, Sammy Davies Jnr, Bob Mitchum, Ella FitzGerald, Barbra Streisand and thousands more giant stars, "Strange But True" reveals all !

Please tick "like" beneath the ones which you enjoy and I shall be able to see if many people have read these sleeve notes !

Please Google "Muppet Show Guest Stars" and read the list of 122 famous guest stars that I played guitar for, on that fantastic 5 year long TV series ! Rita Coolidge, Alice Cooper, Joan Baez, Julie Andrews, Dolly Parton, Shirley Bassey, John Cleese, Judy Collins, Phyllis Diller, John Denver, Ethel Merman, Crystal Gayle, Lena Horn, Deborah Harry, Glenda Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, Bob Hope, Elton John, Danny Kaye, Pearl Bailey, Liza Minelli, Gene Kelly, Liberace & over 100 more World famous Icons are on the list !

The only really huge star who I never had the pleasure of playing for was ELVIS PRESLEY ~ but I was once booked to play for him, when Sir Lew Grade offered his manager, Colonel Tom Parker $1,000,000 for one single Televised Concert at the Royal Albert Hall! ! Parker told Sir Lew "well that's OK for my comission, but what about the boy" ?

I am also the guitarist who is playing that heavy wah wah guitar rhythm on the TV theme, THE PROFESSIONALS ~ and over
100 other cop thrillers, including THE FUGITIVE, THE PERSUADERS, THE PROCTECTORS, THE CHINESE DETECTIVE and even Z CARS in my early years !

I shall releae more than 250 recordings of my own, including those from my albums, "ACOUSTIC DREAMS" ~ "SOLITUDE" and "MARTIN KERSHAW & the BEATLES PHIHARMONIC ORCHESTRA" soon ~ and I also have many more singles such as "20 POPODOM", which I wrote one night in an Indian Restaurant ! Hillarious it is ~ I sing an entire Indian menu !

If you google "Midas Touch Library Music" you will find more than 100 other tracks of this TV music Band, which I formed in 1972 and made 12 albums with until in the 10 years up to1982 !

You may also find many clips which I am unaware of or have forgotten, on YOUTUBE ~ so all the best for now ~ and I shall hope to meet you one night, when I am on my promotional tour of Bus Shelters, Fish Shops & Wheely Bins before Xmas !

I do hope that you will read a few of my "Strange But True" stories on my FACEBOOK wall ~ and should you download my "WHEELY BIN SONG" from CDBABY ~ be careful to look inside your own Wheely Bin before you dispose of your rubbish, especially Wednesday Mornin', as soon as it's dawnin' ~ you never know ~ I might be asleep in there !......... Take care !

Martin Kershaw........aka.....Brighton Early.
