Album Notes

Bristol Songs is a Sarpsborg, Norway-based band playing Nordic melancholic music.

We have been told that given some patience, our songs have a calming effect. This makes us happy, as the goal with our music is to make you relax. Give you a few moments away from your daily routines. Our musical expression has been described as "a warm fire in a winter storm" or "a mid-summernight's soothing blue shadows".

The low-tempered, soft sound emphasized by the down-stripped and minimalistic production leaves a genuine impression. An impression of honesty, warmth and nearness. Genrewise, we have been told it's difficult to place us as other than "soft indie-ballad-rock".

That is how the meaning of the band name also works as an underlining of our songs' peculiarity. Bristol means "the place by the bridge" in ancient English. Bridges, being a frequently used metaphor in poetry, therefore intrigued us to think of passageways and connections. We hope our music will work as a path into our stories, the stories which we want to share with you all.

A journey well worth taking

This cd is an acoustic journey through a landscape of melodic tunes that spread warmth and hope. One might have to listen to the record several times before the tunes really reveal their full strengths and depths. However, this of course signifies a strong record as the record only gets better and better for each time you push the play button on your cd player. Although the production sometimes is a little bit rough in the edges, this only adds to the innocence and charm and is a great relief from the mass-produced top ten records. The highlight of this record is without doubt "No Fix", a brilliant song with excellent harmony between the tune, vocal, and lyrics. Other highlights include "Ice Machine" (Depeche Mode cover), "Reasons", "H", "Fall Like Flies", however this list changes after each listening.
