Album Notes

Born in England to parents Andrea and Captain John Wellsfry, a U.S. Air Force Fighter pilot, firstborn Brittany was named in honor of her place of birth. Brittany's early experiences were of the world abroad. Upon completion of his tour of duty, John Wellsfry returned his young family to their roots in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Brittany spent her formative years.

Brittany, like most children, enjoyed belting out songs. Given the opportunity, any young child will break out in song for their family, but throw a few strangers in the mix and most will clam-up; not so with Brittany. With any audience she rose to the occasion and showed a natural affinity for performance with a voice to match. From those early experiences she was encouraged by family and friends who would say, "You should be a recording artist." Inspired by their words, Brittany followed a similar path as those before her by studying piano and voice and practicing to every song on the radio; often to the moans and groans of her two younger brothers...

As Brittany entered elementary school she picked up a new passion when she learned tennis. She began playing at competition level which required intense practice. Those daily hours of tennis and fitness training gave her an understanding that hard work and commitment are the only sure path to success whatever your goal may be. Her talent in tennis allowed her to travel extensively throughout the United States and earned her a USTA (United States Tennis Association) national ranking until the age of fourteen, when her love of singing and entertaining surpassed her love of tennis.

Finding opportunities to sing for a live audience became as much a challenge as the task itself. Her vocal coach at the time suggested she try her hand in the Miss Teen Texas America pageant. This organization provides numerous opportunities for its title holders to make personal appearances, speaking engagements, talent performances and tons of television and print interviews. In 2002, Brittany won the title of Miss Teen Texas. She spent a year making personal appearances, fulfilling speaking and singing engagements as well as the interviews that come with those opportunities.

The obvious next step for an aspiring young country singer, Brittany began making trips to Nashville looking for some kind of break. She shortened her name from Wellsfry to Wells and through the course of working with various producers began to understand her own sound and focused on creating just that. Not one to waste any time, as Brittany puts it "either through fate or stubborn luck, I was introduced to Nashville producer and songwriter, Wyatt Easterling." The result is a debut single and video called "From Harm's Way", (a heart felt view of the day to day wait for the safe return of a loved one from war), and a fourteen song album heading to stores in October, 2004, titled, "Loving Every Minute Of It" on Nashville based Spindletop Records. Easterling, who as former Head of A&R for Atlantic Records was responsible for signing John Michael Montgomery, Tracy Lawrence and Neal McCoy says, "I've had the honor of working in the studio with some of the best this town has to offer: John Michael Montgomery, Neal McCoy, Keith Urban, Joe Diffie, Hilljack and countless others. I can honestly say Brittany Wells holds her own with any one of them. She's a breeze to work with vocally and her self-awareness and confidence make her easy to produce."

With the release of her first single, "From Harm's Way", Brittany traveled with noted Music Video director Flick Wiltshire (Vintage Flick Inc.) and his film crew to Pensacola, Florida and the Naval Air Station (N.S.A.) to film a music video for "From Harm's Way". "We could not have been treated better by the Navy in their efforts to help us portray this video" stated Brittany. They granted us considerable access to the base when appropriate and headquartered us at the base newspaper. Filming lasted three days and went off without a hitch." The video is scheduled for release on the first of September.

Ranks five stars from us here at CR

Album Review by Tammy Phillips Country Review.com The album, Loving Every Minute Of It (Spindletop Records), includes 14 tracks that showcase a mature voice as comfortable in the studio as it was back when she performed at every opportunity for friends and family as a child. If you're familiar with another newcomer to country music, Julie Roberts, you may notice a similar soulful vibe between the two vocal styles. As for Brittany, the England born, Texas raised singer scores high points for crossover appeal and country traditionalism all wrapped into one solidly produced modern package. As the disc opens with an appreciation of being newly single on "Too Long" and the album's title cut "Loving Every Minute Of It," both ballads, the crossover essence is unmistakable. Then comes the straight-out country slammin' "Kick Down The Door" – among other fun numbers like Sherrié Austin's "Somebody's Somebody" and the lyrically lighthearted "Shoes," co-written by Candy Cameron, Stephony Smith, and Raymond Charles Davis, Jr. – that proves one thing is certain. The girl knows how to rock it. But that's not all. While she's kicking down the door on one track, she's touching hearts affected by the war on another, as on her first single "From Harm's Way," one of four contributions from producer Wyatt Easterling. And while she's touching hearts on one, she's making them weep on others, such as the achingly beautiful "He's Hers," the realism of "In A Heartbeat," the fearful, yet hopeful "Say Anything," and the saddened "I Knew You When." Look for the album to be released on Tuesday, November 16, and don't let the pretty face fool you. There's a load of talent here, with the determination to match. Loving Every Minute Of It ranks five stars from us here at CR. (October 2004)

Brittany Hi! I'm Totally IMPRESSED by your songs. I'm listening to He's Hers at the moment. I'm misty because it reminds me of my divorce. It's been 8 years and it still hurts. I hope that you can get further than trying to sell your songs on a website. You should be a star! A Big One!
