Album Notes
Shauna is living her dream. Before becoming a kindergarten teacher Shauna recorded four songs with formerly Nashville-based producer Bryce Johnson. The first song that Shauna wrote and co-produced was a hit on KPCW radio and was included on a record featuring popular local artists in her then hometown Park City, Utah. After relocating to San Francisco to earn her teaching credential Shauna met award-winning Phillipino producer Ezra Maling. Shauna crashed a jam session hosted by Ezra and the two became instant friends. When Shauna returned to Los Angeles, her place of birth, she and Ezra took turns commuting between Los Angeles and San Francisco every two weeks to write music that over the course of the year captured the essence of Shauna’s first real love story.
Shauna decided to pursue her music more avidly, and began training with vocal coach Steven Memel, whose clientele at the time included Grammy award winner Adam Levine of Maroon 5. Always flooded with new melodies and new lyrics, Shauna sought out collaborators who could partner with her in exploring new styles to compliment her soulful voice. She recorded original songs with Costa Lewis and Adam Snyder of Electric Eel Productions, Rob Torres, and infamous guitarist Joe DiBlisi, best known for his work with Pink Floyd. When Shauna was introduced to Frank Gryner (whose credits include work with Train and Tommy Lee) and artist/producer Karen Steven, the three teamed up to record a single that they called “Sofie.” Sofie was the beginning of an extraordinary partnership out of which was born Shauna’s debut record, The Lonely.
