Album Notes

Jay Britton is an award-winning songwriter, and a very familiar name to the Washington, D.C. area music scene. His list of credits include duties as guitarist, vocalist, session player, arranger, producer, and commercial composer-- though Jay's musical background reflects a wide variety of styles
and genres, he always returns to his own very distinct brand of country-flavored pop.

Jay's latest project has been the writing and recording of his own full length album. "Hiding in the Shadows," which features 10 all-new original songs,
was produced by multiple Best Producer WAMMIE Award winner Marco Delmar, and features some of Washington's finest musical talents including Scott Ambush (Spyro Gyra), Robbie Magruder (Mary Chapin Carpenter), Paul Bell (Nils Lofgren, The Nighthawks), Barry Warsaw (Cravin' Dogs), Benjie Porecki, Casey O'Neal, Lori
Kelley, Lisa Taylor and Dana Connor.

The songwriting on "Hiding In The Shadows" is some of Jay's strongest to date. His new CD covers the range of dynamics, from foot-stomping, guitar-driven
new-country rockers like "Turn Me Loose," "I Got It Bad" and "Was It You," to softer, lyrically introspective tunes like "Run Away Girl" and "Fallin'." Also represented on "Hiding" is the style many point to as Jay's strongest, with beautifully crafted and authentic country ballads like "Not Feeling So Well," "Why Me" and "Easily." These diverse tracks are sewn neatly together by Jay's keen sense of melody, and his knack for lyrics that are sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, and always memorable.

This is a great project, Jay. You wrote wonderful songs, sang them beautifully, and put great musicians around you to top it all off. Certainly something you can be very proud of!

Jay: The writing, performances, production are fantastic. There are songs here that sound better than half the songs now being played on Country radio. There's not a bad cut on the record. To be sure, it's a disc to be proud of.

Jay - what can I say - these contemporary tunes are radio ready. The musicianship is top notch, the songs are a great slice of life, makes you feel like you've been there, done that. The vocals are flawless. Hard to pick a favorite, "Turn Me Loose" had me wanting to dance then "Why Me" was such a sensitive outcry of love. This CD really covers alot of ground emotionally/musically. Has definately found a home in my player.
