Album Notes

Drbebop (aka Howard Brofsky) goes way back, to Charlie Parker and 52nd street.

President of the Vermont Jazz Center, where he worked for many years with guitarist Attila Zoller, he moved to Vermont from New York in 1992.

Professor Emeritus of Music at Queens College, where he set up an M.A. program in jazz performance, Brofsky has an original style within the jazz tradition. He is the co-author (with Jeanne Bamberger) of The Art of Listening: Developing Musical Perception, a widely used college introductory text.

But don't read--listen to the music!

This CD is so enticing! Fabulous standards and originals with impeccable solos. It swings, it moves, it takes me all around those jazzy places I love so well. Feels like a jazz club gig with inspired musicians. A must for my jazz collection.
