Album Notes

Living in the middle of nowhere ain't so bad if you have a talking thumb, a nervous twitch in your left leg and a two-timing right foot to play in a band with. It all began when a pig was traded for a haunted guitar, a Victrola and a collection of 78s. They proved themselves to be true friends when poverty, odd jobs, heartbreak, and murderous intentions foiled any attempt at integration with the rest of the world.

Happy to play only for the nocturnal critters of the Texas hill country, this recording was coaxed out through the persuasive powers of Lawyer Dave and a mason jar full of lightning. It was agreed that these 12 songs would be recorded late night at a closed-for-repair rest stop on 290 Westbound. Nobody was hurt nor denied the use of the facilities during this recording although some crickets were forced to seek mates elsewhere.

This CD makes me wanna join a snake handlin church and get bitten on Sundays. It's painful, powerful and home spun like a kaiser blade. By far the most promising thing I've heard this year.
