CHRISTIAN JAZZ & STRAIGHT AHEAD
Featuring Aisha Brooks-Lytle (vocals), Carl Brooks-Lytle (guitar), Micah Jones (bass)and Tony Deangelis (drums-2000 to 2004).

OUR MUSIC (What we do):

The Brookslytle Christian Jazz Ensemble is made up of an eclectic group of musicians from the Philadelphia area. They have developed a sound that is rooted in traditional jazz while it expands in styles ranging from folk, rock, gospel, and blues. In the midst of an ever-growing Philly music scene, they are distinguished by a unique use of interplay between the vocalist and the instrumentalists. With a repertoire ranging from jazz standards, innovative arrangements of pop songs, praise & worship songs and hymns as well as original compositions, this ensemble weaves a message of hope throughout every performance. Harmonically the band produces a textured sound, forming a musical tapestry that is soothing yet remains interesting through the use of vocal and instrumental improvisation.

OUR MISSION (Why we do what we do):

First and foremost, we love and worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As disciples of Christ, it is our responsibility to exercise stewardship of the musical talents we have been given. Secondly, this CD is a meditation of what is true, honourable, just, pure, pleasing, commendable, and worthy of praise (Philippians 4:8). It is our joy to produce music that is 'life-giving' while pointing people to the true giver of life.

As we've grown as musicians, we've come to understand jazz as a powerful medium of Christian expression. Our hope is that our listeners will deepen their relationship with Jesus or begin a new relationship with the Savior. We pray that it this project blesses and inspires all who hear. Enjoy!
