Album Notes

On this, their second CD, Freudmann and Herschler offer a more nuanced a beautiful collection classical, flamenco and bluesy original cello/guitar duets

In one era and out the other.

Gideon Freudmann and Mark Herschler, collectively known as BROQUE, further push the limits and blur the boundaries between classical and contemporary music on their second release, Ghost in the Attic. This stunning collection of spirited original compositions seamlessly blend with flamenco and classical pieces by Bach, Segraris and Tarrega

The guitar and cello magnificently complement one another. Both musicians are seasoned improvisors, composers and technically proficient players. Holding true to the sprit of of the "classics", they play with passion and spontaneity that keeps the old music fresh and makes the new music sound timeless. This CD is wonderfully fun for active, detailed listening or pleasant to have on as background music. A true gem.

Freudmann and Herschler are both song-writers and performers with impressive solo careers. Their collaboration as BROQUE offers an opportunity to hear the nuance and subtlety of their acoustic playing and sensitivity as chamber musicians.

REVIEWS

Nice mixture of genres

The combination of guitar and cello is a good one, and the choice of music is also good. Blues, classical, jazz, rock and various mixtures of those genres all work well in the hands of these musicians. A good CD.
