A lifelong musician, Brother Dan has called the Reno/Lake Tahoe area home for over thirty years. A classically trained guitarist, Dan has been influenced by a wide range of artists and styles. Those influences, combined with a wide range of life experiences, his open and upbeat attitude, and his obvious passion and love of his art, have developed him into a performer with a wide and universal appeal.
Brother Dan pulls no lyric punches on “Nothin’ Better Than This.” The smart, sometimes intense/sometimes humorous lyrics are tempered by interesting arrangements of an eclectic blend of brilliantly played acoustic instruments, engaging hooks, almost-familiar chord progressions, and memorable melodies. The project centers on a variety of real-life issues including love (love lost, gained, and hoped for), plus religious disenfranchisement (Brother Dan served as minister of music in a large evangelical church for five years), and was largely motivated by the realization of mortality (positively diagnosed with a potentially fatal condition in 2004, he has since fought it into remission).
