Brother Day Kelly, a very phenomenal musical talent that sowed his musical roots from the birthplace of Ronald Reagan in Tampico, Illinois. Beginning with drums at an early age, Day played in the family orchestra with his father Dale, a fanatical jazz fan and mother Ruth, an accomplished jazz pianist. At age 6, Day was inspired by legendary trumpeter Louis Armstrong, and began trumpet lessons at age eleven. He also studied saxophone in high school. After high school Day attended Illinois Wesleyan University as music major and then was driven to attend the North Texas State University Jazz education program, Almana Matter of popular singer Norah Jones.
After college Brother Day played for artists including Bob Hope, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Doc Severinson (of The Tonight Show), Lana Cantrell, and toured as Jazz trumpeter with the Ray Charles Orchestra. Day's current musical portfolio includes appearances featuring his recent songs and compositions, as well as a songs from the Sinatra/Louis Armstrong era, which he performs with vocals, trumpet and sax solos, and piano. As a composer and performer, Brother Day brings a wealth of talent, experience, and diversity to his audience. In 2007, Day released his debut album "Code Blues, Nashville" a collection of Day's original songs. He is currently writting and planning to record more originals. He performs for special events, weddings, parites and special functions as well as enjoys touring and playing in coffee houses and restaurants. Great blues and what I consider a kind of jazz.
Brother Day is off the charts!
author: Brother M.Brother Day is not only an amazingly talented multi-instrumentalist but is also an awesome singer and incredible person, which comes through in all of his original songs. "Code Blues, Nashville" is a tasteful blend of Jazz and Rock, featuring some of Nashville's finest musicians and a sure to be smash! I would highly recomend to any true music lover wanting to rock out or relax on the beach with your girl. Code Blues is completely off the charts!
