Album Notes

The new CD from BrotherSugg, “Tell Me A Story”, is a new venture in song writing. Every song tells a story from within. It’s been three years since the last CD, “Get Inside Your Head”. With this new endeavor, BrotherSugg concentrates on his traditional roots in guitar; acoustic pop and heavy blues influences.

“This is my most personal recording ever. Each song has a story for me. I hope listeners will discover their own stories listening to the album. It’s hard to describe ALL of my influences, but here’s what I was listening to during this time period: the Wallflowers, Live, Chris Isaac, Audioslave, Damien Rice, the The and various acoustic pop songs.”

“I had been working on several songs since the 2003 release of ‘Get Inside Your Head’. However, I didn’t like the direction of the album. I went to the local music shop to get a keyboard to expand my musical influences. I spotted this black Yamaha acoustic and sat down and played. I was not there for yet another guitar. But alas, I could not put it down. After playing new music that was inspired on that guitar for over an hour, I had to have it. The shop merchant went to pull one out of the back, but I said ‘No, I want this one!’”

“I slapped a butterfly sticker / tattoo on her lower back and sat down and wrote the album. I hope you enjoy.”

One special occasion on the album is “Stronger Than That”. Written for BrotherSugg’s sister while she was going through a difficult time, it was decided the song needed a female’s touch. Enter On the Mark studios in San Jose, CA.

“We met online at the Cakewalk forum. Mark suggested a singer he worked with and we exchanged files. Nicole Willard lent her voice to the track and made it what I had envisioned. I recommend On the Mark Studios. They are easy to work with and produce fabulous high end tracks.”
