Album Notes

The Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh are one of the most popular music groups to perform in the western United States. Their silvery harmonies, beautiful arrangements, and entertaining personalities have created a permanently loyal and enthusiastic following, from their fellow Americans to homegrown Scots and Irish.

Diane, Pamela, and Laura's lead vocals and haunting harmonies are enriched by cousin George's rich, unaffected voice and original guitar style. The addition of Scotland's own John Allan on electric and acoustic guitar has also allowed the group to move in the direction of their own-still-easy-on-the-ears version of Celtic rock. This combined with their perennially popular arrangements of traditional and modern Gaelic songs, Scottish and Irish selections as well as original material, gives them a range of appeal and artistic expression unique in the world of Celtic entertainment.

The Browne Sisters & George Cavanaugh have opened for acts such as Andy M. Stewart and shared the stage wth the likes of Seven Nations, Men of Worth, Clandestine, Alex Beaton, Alasdair Fraser and Seamus Kennedy. They have been received enthusiastically for many years at Burn's Night, St. Paddy's Days, college campuses, and major games and festivals across the United States.

They have five albums: SILVER DARLINGS, CASTLE DANGEROUS, WEST OF HOME, CHRISTMAS TRAVELERS, and BRINGING DOWN THE HOUSE. They are currently working on their sixth album titled READY FOR THE STORM and expect it to be available at the end of 2003. They have also been featured on other artists' recordings such as Alex Beaton's IN THE SCOTTISH TRADITION, IRISH MARY, and KIDDING AROUND.

The group can also be heard on radio staions in the U.S., the Canadian Broadcasting Company, the British Broadcasting Company, and Scotland's Radio Caithness.

"Silver Darlings" is definitely the gift that keeps on giving! Whether it's the plaintive "Wae's Me for Prince Charlie," the lively "Tell Me Ma," the "Star of the County Down," or the title song "Silver Darlings," I promise the listener will be enchanted. The Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh make beautiful, beautiful music together.

I had purchased a tape of this album a few years ago, and it finally wore out, so I just purchased the CD. I like the music so well that I just ordered the other 3 albums that are available without even sampling the songs. Their voices are beautiful.
