"Well, her love was like second hand smoke - it filled the air between us, till both of us would choke." That's the opening line to Dinosaur Bones, the title song in this latest collection from Pacific Northwest songwriter Bruce Mason Hunt.

Bruce writes about living and loving, winning and losing, of course, but he's a little less interested in the answers than he is about people hearing the song playing in their heads an hour later. He writes gorgeous melodies and weaves stunning vocal harmonies with superb guitar, bass and percussion lines to create just the right arrangements. Give this disc a listen and then let him know what you think—that is, if you can get his tunes out of your head long enough to do so.

You can hear numerous influences in Bruce's music, but rarely do you hear such a smooth synthesis of styles create such a compelling voice. There are dashes of Motown and the Beatles, but also contemporary country and pop sounds. This music is vibrant and alive.

Bruce has written jingles for radio advertising, scored two films (one won an Emmy award), written themes for TV, and produced albums for himself and other local artists. Let's hope he keeps on creating new sounds for us to enjoy.
