BRUCE JONES, songwriter
"Bruce Jones is as brilliant a songwriting talent to come out of Austin as I have heard to date ... He can write your story with his words and make it feel like his own when he sings it." - Alton Rex, Professional Austin-based Singer-Songwriter, Feb. 20, 2005
"Prodigious talents ... Bruce Jones' original lyrics and presentation reveal a gifted musician/singer-songwriter ... unique ... You need to hear him LIVE! ... and listen to his words ... " Thom World Poet, March 24, 2005
BRUCE JONES is a Texas songwriter who spent sixteen years playing bass with Austin icon and legend, Omar Dykes. During the time he was in "Omar and the Howlers" the band had a CBS recording contract, produced a number of albums and toured all over the United States, Canada and Europe, appearing with such acts as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Winter, the Fabulous Thunderbirds and many more. In 2004 he released "Flashpoint Sessions", his first album of all original material, including his song "Fight Like a Girl", which was a winner in the Austin Songwriter's Group 2004 Songwriting Contest.

Warning!! This CD results in wicked gleeful joy!
author: Tana Treganowan Amstutz aka Sweet BetsyBruce Jones is an original: Dark and twisted with the political awareness of Phil Ochs, the dry grittiness of John Prine and the downhome honesty of Billy Joe Shaver. I Lied has me sitting up cackling in the middle of the night!! Trailer Trash King MUST become a video!! I see Bruce banty-walking, picking and sheepishly grinning with trashy big-haired babes hanging all over him!! [Can I be in it if I get a Dolly Parton wig and some o' them new-fangled silicone falsies?] Homeland Security is pure truth, speaks for itself and makes me sad. What strikes me the most about If I Confessed to You is my reaction to it--how can something so creepy be such a turn-on? I'm down on love songs these days but have to admit that Count on Me got to me anyway. And musically speaking, Bruce is all warm frontier comfort!!
Bruce is the bomb
author: VenusI heard Bruce live first, then immediately bought the CD. Like so many artists, Bruce is (IMHO) more compelling in person. However, the impeccable production on the Flashpoint Sessions certainly lends itself to serious listening. And, of course, the format lets you go back and actually catch those clever lyrics you might have otherwise overlooked while ordering that last beer.
Hi Bruce Wes loved you guys. Will write soon Wendy Kyleen
author: Wendy KyleenYea Hi I'm wes I just stay in the back ground. But everyone must esexst somehow huh. A Braive new would OK- wow I hate it when he do'es that. Sorry about that, last time we met, I should have said nothing. But just like all the others I can't help myself. Wesley Kyle, Sandy Mike says Buce could be Dean Martin don't "God Love You" Bruce Jones go and get me lieing. Its OK i'm cErtified
Great Songwriting and Inspired Musicianship
author: Bill CarriganI picked up this CD on the recommendation of a friend, and I have not regretted the decision one bit. I think the songwriting is fantastic, much of it is clever and makes me laugh, while other bits are emotionally resonant and though-provoking. I think the musicians on the album are fantastic, and I like the way that the songs, though all revolving around the genre of roots rock or country rock, are very different and varied.
This is a fantastic album which changed my life!
author: Emily KaitzThere's a lot of great stuff on this CD - rocking weirdo marriage songs, pyromaniac songs, sensitive love songs, paranoid new world order songs - it's intense, funny, and the production is utterly fantastic (thanks to the East Side Flash). These songs are now so deeply imbedded in my brain, they're like journalists in the Middle East!
