Album Notes

Mark Bruland was born in Detroit, and at age three began playing by ear and composing on an old upright grand player piano in his basement. Inspired by artists playing Motown, rock and blues, Mark cut his musical path listening to the Beatles, Temptations and B.B. King.

Now living in southwest Wisconsin and raising their two daughters on Appley Ever After Farm, Mark and his wife enjoy working in their apple orchard, blueberry and raspberry patch, picking asparagus, tending to their honeybees, making maple syrup, and collecting colorful brown and green eggs from their organic laying hens.

Heritage was started late in 2006, but Mark's musical process was interrupted by the loss of his mother and then his father-in-law early in 2007. It was completed in the winter of 2007, and then mastered and printed early 2008. It is new age meditative and light jazz featuring strong melodies and an ambient feel. It is inspired by The Finger Lakes Region of New York State.

Mark utilizes a Roland XP-60 workstation, a Boss BR-8 digital recording studio, Boss DR-770 rhythm machine and an acoustic Takamine guitar. He can be e-mailed at omschloe@frontiernet.net and always appreciates hearing your opinions, suggestions and ideas.
