Album Notes

Bruno Leone was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York in the 1940's and 1950's. It was a colorful period in history when Bruno began his studies of music and human nature. He became proficient at multiple musical instruments at a young age and began playing with local bands in highschool and college. In 1963, Bruno and his new bride, Patsy, relocated to Los Angeles, California in hopes of a brighter future.

It was there that Bruno discovered his passion for history when he enrolled in a course at a local college. He plunged headfirst into a history program at Arizona State University, with piano playing as his bread and butter. It was during this period that Bruno had the opportunity to accompany such greats as Billy Daniels and Mel Torme.

Graduation from ASU in 1967 brought academic honors including a Fulbright Fellowship and an opportunity for a fellowship from the University of Minnesota, which Bruno accepted. After obtaining his graduate degree in history, Bruno taught at the local college for 10 years during which time his classes became the most popular on campus. His music career continued during this period as he played with local bands and in local clubs. Eventually, Bruno became restless at the college and looked for new challenges to pursue. He began writing humanities books for a local publishing company and soon became executive editor of the firm. The company grew under Bruno's direction and was moved to San Diego in 1987.

In 1995, Bruno began teaching continuing education classes in the San Diego area. Again, the classrooms swelled with eager listeners as Bruno pontificated on a variety of subjects. Someone caught wind of Bruno's musical abilities and suggested a benefit concert with him at the piano. A decision was made to combine Bruno's musical talents with his ability to captivate an audience with stories into a show about the life of George Gershwin. It was a smashing success and more shows were produced over the next few years.

Today, Bruno Leone combines his dazzling mastery of the piano with the art of storytelling to create a variety of shows with enormous appeal to people of all ages.Bruno has made five recordings, Pure Broadway, Pure Cinema, Pure Romance, Pure Classics and Pure Christmas, four of which include an original piano piece by Bruno.
