Album Notes

"Milwaukee’s Bryan Cherry Band blends rock, funk and soul into a mixture that captures the sound of the ’70s but maintains a modern-day feel. Singer Bryan Cherry exudes a Dave Matthews charisma with a voice that is all Hendrix. Adding to the mix is the guitar work of Sean Williamson, whose licks also emulate those of the late, great Jimi. With a solid rhythm section and high-impact percussion, the band exudes a groove straight out of Haight Street."

"The EP, produced by Mike Hoffmann, is a diverse showcase. (Hoffmann has worked with the Verve Pipe, Victor DeLorenzo of the Violent Femmes and Freshwater Collins.) Tracks range from country to folksy, funk to bluesy rock, channeling the energy of everyone from The Beatles to Ben Harper to David Gilmour."

"Cherry's story begins not more than a few years ago, when hearing the Beatles' classic ballad "Blackbird" was the catalyst for him to start writing songs, and to sing them in his down-home soul croon."

Standing at the junction where Soul, Pop, and Rock N' Roll meet is Bryan Cherry, a band that stretches musical boundries all while sounding unmistakably familiar. Consistently dancing over the lines of genre classification with each track, Bryan Cherry's product exhibits nothing more than a love for music rooted deep within each member.

Powering Bryan Cherry is the exuberant songwriting of Bryan Cherry combined with the intricate and tasteful guitar work of Sean Williamson with a dash of the expressive thunder god drumming of Chad Clausen, and Matt Turner adds top notch bass playing to fill it out. The band is growing at an alarming rate, formed roughly one year ago and already in the process of recording a full length LP of all new material. A music whose sound proves that it is still possible for both power and beauty to be heard and more importantly felt down to the deepest bone in your body.

Great "unprocessed" sound!

The CD is refreshingly void of the digital "enhancements" via computerized production work we are so used to today where the artists have to lip synch instead of perform because the finished product sounds nothing like real life. It has great musical energy that takes me back to the early days of Cream, Grand Funk Railroad, Hendrix, and the other power trios of that era with some great musicianship. But do not misunderstand the comparrison, these guys are not a "Classic Rock Knockoff Wanna-be", they have their own unique sound and style.
