Ecstatic!

I AM ECSTATIC WITH HOW WELL EACH AND EVERY TUNE SPANS THE SPECTRUM of genres of MUSIC!!! WOW! The recording is one mighty fine sound production!!! It is definitely state of the art! I love the “Nags Head Rag” especially the intro into the full blown tune and the nice sweet “Baby Driver's Tune”!!! Throughout the CD I can certainly hear influences from Todd to YES, and the opening tune reminds of Brewer and Shipley or the Grateful Dead!!! I love the arrangement of “... Stop and Consider”. Talk about a shiny tune!!! What I love is how suitable his voice is for all of these different songs and how he can flex easily from each genre of music to the next. True testament of just how diverse Bryan is musically. Quite honestly there is not one song that I do not I like. I love that he has diversified the arrangements and can go from ethereal to full orchestration. Unbelievably well crafted tunes. Truly an awesome collection and divinely produced CD!!! What a TREAT!

Don't care what your music taste is, you'll like this CD!

I had the pleasure and honor of being Bryan's first sale of his new CD. Received it June 3rd and haven't "tired" of it yet. Understand that I am typically a "bouncer". I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 4000 songs in my iPod and it usually stays in shuffle mode where I listen to a minute or two of a song and then advance to the next random one in the playlist. For me to sit and listen to a song in its entirety is rare, and to listen to a complete CD over and over again (with little to no "bouncing") is completely out of character for me. I liked this CD so much that I now have a "Bryan Forrest" playlist to make it easy to find. It is rare in the last few weeks that I have listened to anything else but Proverbial Shine. Although I haven't heard any of Bryan's original music since probably the early 80's, I bought the CD because I knew that Bryan is a very talented artist. Needless to say, I have not been disappointed in the least. No matter whether you lean towards country or hard rock or somewhere else in the music spectrum, this CD will fit well in almost anyone's collection. In addition to great songs, the production quality is excellent. There's a lot of "indie" music out there these days that sounds like it was recorded in someone's garage with an old Radio Shack portable cassette deck. Bryan has obviously spent the time and $$ to produce a first quality CD and it comes through crystal clear. Proverbial Shine hooks you from the first track and flows smoothly and cleanly through a number of styles that are hard to pin down. There's some Beatles in there, but there's also some jazz-reggae overtones in "Johnny-Cake". "Meet Me In Manila" is such a great tune that Bryan has two different mixes of it on the CD. Trust me, you won't mind hearing it twice. The hidden bonus track B-B-B-Bill is a fun catchy tune that wraps up the disc leaving you wanting more. I'm sure this is just a small sampling of his repertoire and I'm already awaiting his next CD (Bryan, go ahead and put me first in line for CD #2 also, whenever that may be). In the meantime, I'll keep Proverbial Shine in "repeat all" on the iPod and continue to enjoy it for a long time to come.
