Pretty, intimate electronic/guitar music with sweet vocals about personal demons, love, and life. Peter Gabriel meets David Gray meets Soft Bulletin Flaming Lips

notes

"Hazel and the Black Rabbit" is an intimate and personal gem. Chris Bryers writes and sings from an emotional center about finding love, self-actualizing, frustrations with life, personal demons, and other issues and successes drawn from an apparently personal space.

The idea of personal space is felt in the music. Recorded with electronics, acoustic guitars, and "up close" vocals, the music feels like a personal musical postcard. Bryers prefers the softer tones of the pallet - those with few edges, but also ones that drive deep. While many of the drums and instrument melodies are synthesized, the album feels organic, natural, and very human.

This may be largely attributed to Bryers expansive, warm and emotive voice. It sounds wonderful here.

Fans of music like Peter Gabriel, the Cure, Kate Bush, The Flaming Lips, Portishead, Regina Spektor, Pete Yorn, or David Gray. Bryers influences also include Prince, Sun Kil Moon, Twilight Singers, Billy Bragg, Bread, Brian Eno, Todd Rundgren, Marvin Gaye, and Lindsey Buckingham.
