Album Notes

This is the first compilation from b-side records, featuring 13 of the best b-side records tracks for your wining, dining, dancing & prancing pleasure.

Who is b-side records?

b-side is an independent label based in Raglan, on the west coast of the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, deep in the south of the Pacific Ocean.

We make straight-up twisted psychedelic electro-soul trip-hop and hard hitting ambient lo-fi dub. We make hi-tech trouble out of lo-tech meat and good water out of bad wine.

So this album is a compilation of b-side music by various b-side artists, but it's also an album in it's own right. Although a range of styles are represented here, the infectious b-side flavor permeates every track, blending and binding to make a delicious meal from a variety of ingredients, it flows smooth from entree to dessert.

The beats are driving yet meditative, the production tasteful yet colorful, the vocals soulful yet understated. Some of the tracks are instrumental and speak for themselves in a multitude of tongues, others feature some of the finest vocal talent in Aotearoa, notably the sensational Miss La (50hz, Tubbs, Nufin-Yin) and exciting up-and-comers Jinja Jamboo & Cocoa Electro.

Please note: Music this good doesn't belong in a plastic box, so this DELUXE EDITION CD comes beautifully presented in a six-panel cardboard digipak.
