Album Notes

Upon first experiencing the raw Folk/Zydeco /Root Soul sound of Blue Sky Mission Club many peoples first response is “what type of music is this, because I’ve never heard anything like it!” BSMC’s kaleidoscopic sound featuring blistering Lap Steel Guitar playing by founder London McDaniel and the unmistakable Country Soul vocals of lead singer Martie Hornby are a formidable combination together with Joe Prush (Fiddle and vocals) and Christina Barry(Keyboards /Accordion and Vocals) they paint a mosaic of sinuously lilting harmonies.

Combined with the fresh Bass grooves of Victor Penimann and subtlety rocking beats of Gene Brenemann and you have a recipe for dancing all night. Veteran musician and BSMC’s founder London McDaniel has recorded with industry heavyweights John Medeski and has performed for Phish. Since playing their first festival in 2004 Blue Sky mission Club’s relentless touring schedule has brought them overwhelming accolades from both musicians and dancing audiences alike.

Listing to Blue Sky Mission Club one can easily invision “Sly and the Family Stone performing acoustically with the Allman Brothers at Bob Marley’s place”. All this while engaging socially conscious music that is remarkably moving. Blue Sky Mission Club brings together the best of many musical worlds
