Album Notes

Brent Engle lives in the small town of New Albany, Indiana and makes original music under the name Between Two Lions. Joined by longtime friends and collaborators Eric Moore and Todd Corley, Between Two Lions is a gentle, anxious, and multicolored interpretation of pop and roots rock.

The music of Between Two Lions is the product of musicians with open minds to a broad array of sounds and styles. Moore and Corley provide percussion and bass, respectively, forming a backbeat that matches well against Engle's muffled guitars and delicate vocal delivery. While the band openly credits their influences to the likes of Whiskeytown, Television, and The Stone Roses, they create a tone that is both unique and interesting.

Fully immersing themselves in the Louisville original music scene, the band has played to crowds at local venue favorites such as Headliners Music Hall, The Main Street Lounge, and O'Sheas, among others. With a recently completed EP and a collection of new material, Between Two Lions will be touring regionally with bar and club dates available in spring 2005.

The band has recently completed their debut release, a long in the works self-titled EP which is available for sale on their website and at shows. The Between Two Lions EP, released in December 2004, was produced and released by the band and recorded at Louisville's Faulk Audio. With this release, the band took to a more traditional means of recording and tracked the album live with engineer Tim Haertel. A collage of the band's better work, the Between Two Lions EP is a homage to their creativity and a preface to a bright and successful future for the band.

The Between Two Lions EP track list includes: Walking awake, Pop song, Put on a shirt, Thief, Money down on hearts, Anthem for a heartbreaker, Tracey, and Twenty-four. A limited first pressing of the album includes a bonus demo track, Slow shine.

Nice appetizer

This is a strong album. A little on the short side, but then again, they did say it was an EP, so I guess you can't get too upset. Very much looking forward to their next one.

Surprisingly good debut CD

Despite being from God knows where in Indiana, Between Two Lions have some talent. This is an excellent CD, in the vein of Whiskeytown. "Walking Awake" is a particular favorite. I look forward to hearing more from these guys.

What a great album! Nice job guys. I listened to the tracks, liked very much what I heard, and picked up the record. "Thief" is definitely a favorite. "Money down on hearts" is also really interesting. All in all, I really like the record and am now a Between Two Lions fan.
