Album Notes

Bill Buchman is a jazz pianist of international class. Bill, who has a master's degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, is best described as a mainstream player. He studied for many years with Jaki Byard, known for his multi-style approach to the piano and Ran Blake, one of the leading exponents of Third Stream music. Bill has worked with jazz greats such as Jo Jones (of Count Basie fame), Red Callender, Alan Dawson, Sammy Rimington, and Emmanual Abdul Rahim. Bill has played all over the U.S. and Europe. Bill's new CD, "Out of The Blue" features well known drummer Keith Copeland and top Danish bass player Jesper Bodilsen. Bill's piano, at times driving, swinging, funky, bluesy, and at other times rich, warm and reflective, covers a wide range and has appeal that crosses the usual genre borders.

The latest incarnation of Bill's trio is called "Bill Buchman's Art of Jazz" and plays regularly at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sarasota, Florida. The trio features such stellar musicians as saxophonist John La Porta, bassist Richard Drexler, drummer Tom Carabasi and others.

Bill, who is also a professional artist, says, "Jazz is an art and that is what we strive for. Our music is all about joy, spontaneity, warmth, and depth."

Heard about the Trio, and the new CD on Gulf Coast Journal, WEDU Channel 3 in Tampa. Great Jazz! I'd like for the local "Smooth Jazz" station to play more stuff like this!
