Album Notes

Fifty years ago, July of 1954, soon after strolling into Sun Studios to make a record for his mother, Elvis released his first Sun record, "That's Alright Mama". Music would be changed forever.

To honor that era, Terry and I decided to relive that period of time when Elvis was new, raw, unique and innovative. With this record, we tried to recreate what it must have been like at Sun in '54 and '55, recording some of the tracks live on 2-track tape and did 4 of the tracks in under 3 hours - a modern day miracle!

Terry has never sounded better! He is joined on a rockin' "Rip It Up" by Mark Krurnowski and the Filter Kings, and we also enlisted the services of brilliant musician, singer, composer, producer, and engineer Nelson Starr to add 4 tracks. These would be what "E" might be doing were he with us today.

We hope you enjoy listening!
