The Buck Ford Pure Country Band's new album "Guitar and Gasoline" features songs written and performed by Buck Ford with the backing of experienced musicians. A self-taught guitar player, his lyrics are based off of his life experiences. In the title track "Guitar and Gasoline", Buck Ford describes his transformation from motocross star to country singing sensation: "Well I've traded that life of broken bones of being a motocross star. Sold everything I own, now all I got is this guitar."
Raised in Vacaville, California, the 20-year-old Ford gave up a promising career in motorcross racing, even turning down a sponsorship deal with Honda, to live out his dream as a country musician. While on the motorcross circuit, he began to learn the guitar, falling in love with the classical country sounds of George Strait and Merle Haggard. It was at a Craig Morgan concert during a motocross event that Ford put down his bike for good and picked up the guitar.
