"Slowly soothing, Annette Buckley, Irish singer and songwriter, tempts us with a preview of her upcoming debut cd, currently, 'Untitled,' to be released in April [2005]. Annette swirls in a vocal spiral on 'Tangled,' as she questions, probes, and poetically analyzes her way through a bed of 'tangled roses.' 'Falling,' softly floats on an oh-so-sweet guitar to a story of reflective hindsight. A third cut untitled, sings a sad farewell to a love once known. Annette is on the rise in the British Isles; may she rise on. Visit www.annettebuckley.com for updates, song clips, bio and release dates." www.womensrising.com

"An Irish folky acoustic singer songwriter whose haunting vocals are making waves the other side of the Irish Sea. This is Beth Orton/Heidi Berry territory and the more passionate tracks like the Lamb-esque opener 'Tangled' and 'Untitled', with its piano accompaniment, are the most engaging. Soothing music for a sore Sunday morning head." Decode magazine.
--------------
Annette Buckley is one of the finest contemporary Cork vocalists/songwriters of her generation.
Originally it was her much enthused performances at the Lobby Bar, Cork that increased her once murmuring fan base into a cascade of local public recognition. To witness Annette Buckley on stage is an experience nothing short of religiously spiritual. A magnificent voice carries an endless flow of mystical lyrics. Each syllable, one feels, is born of that rare place where few souls go, and fewer still have gone and survived. It is a place where the eye of innocence stares into the darker outposts of humanity, and returns more deeply wise.
Since then many have witnessed her inspired performances throughout Britain and Ireland. Annette has opened for Juliet Turner in her sell out date at the Cork Opera House and the USA-based Ryan Adams at the Kilkenny Rhythm 'n' Roots Festival in May 2001. More recently she has added Maria McKee, Nina Hynes, Eleanor McEvoy, Neil Halstead, Amy Rigby, Jane Taylor, Sharon Lewis, Polly Paulusma, and the legendary Soft Boys to this number. In March 2003 Annette took part in the Forward the Revolution Tour in the Village, Dublin, and also played as part of the 2003 Cork Mid-summer Festival in the Everyman Palace Theatre.
In addition, Annette has received further coverage on national TV and radio, performing on TG4's Pop TV, and receiving airplay on 2FM'S Jay Ahearn show.
In November 2001 Annette signed a publishing contract with Toby Darling Limited in England. Toby represents many artists worldwide, including Irish band The Frames.
'Untitled' Annette's first six-track EP, launched in July 2001, is an eclectic collection of both polished and bare songs.
It is her voice which sets Annette Buckley apart from her peers, giving her that vital edge on all those who fall into that ever-burgeoning category of singer/songwriter.
"One cannot but be impressed by Buckley's powerful range" Michael Carr of 96fm/inside Cork authoritatively states.
In 2004 Annette collaborated with many Cork bands on their debĂșt releases including Green Monitor, Stanley Super 800, and Rest's debĂșt album 'burning in water, drowning in flame'. Rest also appear on Annette's forthcoming release.
More recently in May 2004 Annette embarked on a 6 month Irish Tour, playing piano with Dundalk Songwriter Stewart Agnew.
During this period she finally finished her debut album 'the ever changing colours of the sea' due out in April 2005.
Annette also features in the 'Reflections of Cork' book. This is in association with the European Capital of Culture 2005. This book is an insight into Cork life by Cork people. John Spillane, fellow singer/songwriter also features in the book.
'Reflections of Cork' is now available in all good book shops!
