It seems like every guitar player who ever made a record is described by someone as "legendary" or a legend. Here's an authentic blues/rock legend with a history that dates from the 60's to the present day.
Bugs Henderson is the "real deal". Check any anthology of the Texas rock and blues music scene and you will likely find his name in the very first paragraph. One of his guitars hangs in the Dallas, Texas Hard Rock Café along with instruments donated by Chet Atkins and Lee Ritenouer and he's recorded with or shared stages with some of the greatest guitar slingers of all time including Freddie King, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Winter and Roy Buchannan to name a few.
It was blues great Freddie King who encouraged Bugs to step out on his own after playing with a myriad of bands throughout Texas and the neighboring states. In the 60's he played with his buddy Ronnie Weiss in their group Mouse and the Traps, picking up national chart action with their "Public Execution" single. In the 70's he performed and recorded with Nitzinger, and in the past two decades he's seen more than two dozen albums released under his own name on labels around the world. He's been called "A national treasure" by the press and has been described by many critics as not only one of the best guitarists in the blues/rock field, but possibly the fastest player out there today.
Bugs has been through the regular musicians battles with drugs and alcohol and has managed to survive and whip them all, and today in his mid-sixties continues to tour internationally and to "rock on" in concert and in the studio. The new album, Stormy Love, finds Bugs still at the forefront of electric blues/rock, but there is a mellowing here too with a disc full of original material that includes a country duet with the great Billy Joe Shaver and a couple of beautiful ballads. Augmenting the trio sound that has been the basis for many of his later recordings, this disc adds a couple of friends on Hammond B-3 Organ, keyboards, slide and rhythm guitars and even backup singers on a few tracks. Of course, as has been his habit on his recent albums, Bugs has added a final track of liner notes in his own words that put the songs in perspective.
If you are already a Bugs Henderson fan, this release is a "must have" item, if you are not familiar with this great Texas guitar master, this disc should serve as a terrific introduction.

Bugs is one of my top 5 all- favorites. This one is a little different than usual butI like it. Good solid tunes. Shadow of the Rose, Maid of Sugar Made of Spice, and The Train Song, and are my personal favorites on this cd. First saw Bugs Henderson play at Mother Blues in Dallas with Freddie King in 1976. Been a fan ever since that day. Have Blues Must Rock!

Bugs is THE MAN!

"Real Deal" is a hugh understatement. I was there. I started watching Bugs play in the Fort Worth Cellar club in 1967....I've been watching ever since. There used to be a saying in Dallas guitar playing circles when I was coming up myself. It was; "Nobody's as good as Bugs" It's still true. This CD is proof the the Master is still on the top. Bugs still rules the roost! Check it out.
