Drones of evolving textures
author: john
The second album from Building The Cathedral defiantly has a more sci-fi cinematic feel to it.
Drones of evolving textures describing an otherworldly situation some of this is dissonant and aggressive some soul calming.
The many-layered tracks employ orchestral and FX-laden textures and sublimely uplifting harmonies and psychedelic effects to produce its inventive character, great stuff.
Provides an unsettling mood and tension and relaxation with its dark chords and notes
It’s a powerful album that shows off Building The Cathedrals gifts for musical exploration
An amazing journey of otherworldly sounds employing a careful use of space and atmosphere, enjoy.

“Under the Aurora”. is not disappointing the sensitive listener! This time Building the Cathedral slowly unveil worlds of the minds eye! I was unable to resist the gentle invitation in and delicate and strange mythical world of sound. Sound or bodiless entities, or is sound in this dimensionless world taking on the properties of light and shade? It is so. Believe your inner voice to listen to the sound characters in this unique and unusual world. Give yourself over it is well worth submitting to the arching canvas that is Building The Cathedral.
I was put in mind the 1950’s Science fiction film “The Forbidden Planet”
The digital looping that pervades this work appears nether cold or stark yet is at the same time (a world very much inhabited by John Foxx compositions Metamatic being the best example)
It is a very touching and romantic approach to electronics. However like the electronic sounds of forbidden Planet the individual loops/beings are following their own life’s path! There is nothing that this music can be compared to- this is drama! Brain Eno’s music for airports comes to mind. But, this is living “calling” life forms from the air and sea. Building The Cathedral? Or the ”Building of entities”
Love the sincerity. We need this music in the human world!
