Buller, Balzer, Aichele – THE HYMN PROJECT - Biography
Jon Buller has been writing, recording and touring for more than 10 years. In all, Buller has released 9 CDs, one of which was nominated for a Juno award in 2000 (Sinner & the Saint). Buller recently joined creative forces with the producer of Sinner & the Saint Olaf Pyttlik and 2 other musical friends Kevin Aichele and Nolan Balzer to record ‘The Hymn Project’.
‘This cd originated from a genuine desire on all of our parts to contribute to the landscape of spiritual music a recording of traditional inspirational hymns, treated with care and creative passion by 3 voices, 3 guitars and little else.’
Nolan Balzer is a studio engineer, voice director and producer at daCapo Productions in Winnipeg, MB. He has been arranging, singing and producing vocals as well as playing guitar and bass in live settings and as a session player for the past decade. In addition to his presence on over 25 albums Nolan has also had the opportunity to work with multiple Juno award winner Steve Bell.
Kevin Aichele is a singer, musician, and actor based out of Winnipeg, MB. He has been performing professionally for the last 10 years in styles ranging from opera and musical theatre, to jazz, pop, and country. Kevin was nominated for a 2003 Dora award for Best Male Performance in a Musical. Currently Kevin is a composer for daCapo Productions where he creates original music for stage, commercials, and television.
The Hymn Project was initially the vision of producer Olaf Pyttlik who brought the three voices together for what became a labor of love for the 4 friends. What the listener will hear are classic hymns of faith, with vocal harmonies and guitar arrangements that are the perfect companions to the timeless melodies and lyrics of old. Steve Bell says of the project…
‘Earlier this year Jon, Nolan and Kevin teamed up under producer Olaf Pyttlik to record a very simple acoustic, vocal heavy, charming and quite moving recording of several of their favorite hymns and gospel songs. I think folks are going to love it.’
‘The Hymn Project’ is now available through Hear the Music Ministries at www.htmministries.com and is distributed to retail and radio by Signpost Communications at www.signpostvillage.com

Excellent

I am extremely pleased with this CD purchase. The hymns are beautifully sung and the combination with the acoustic guitar makes them even more enjoyable. I would recommend this CD to people of all ages and especially new Christians who don't know the older hymns but would like to learn them...like me. Even my 7 yr old grandson loves the music and is learning the hymns along with me. I like the newer modern music too, but these old hymns are classics that will always be around. Many blessings to Buller, Balzer and Aichele for this wonderful CD. May God continue to bless your work as you serve Him with music.
