notes

"Hands" is the debut CD of Bumblefoot (aka Ron Thal) - experimental hard rock combining intense music with humorous lyrics. Fans of groups like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Mr. Bungle or Primus will enjoy this record. Musicians and enthusiasts of progressive rock will also appreciate the performances on this record, as well as anyone looking for atypical lyrical content. The album art is a collection of artistic photographs of twisted and malformed hands.

ARTIST BIO:
Bumblefoot (aka Ron Thal) is a recording artist and international touring artist from NYC with seven albums released since 1995. Fronting the band as lead singer/guitarist, the music is hard rock, bordering on quirky and experimental. Known for his unusual guitar-work, Bumblefoot has been on the covers of guitar magazines around the world. His guitar playing can be heard in the Spanish guitar soloing of Jessica Simpson's "Irresistible" dance mix, the punky guitar riff of SpikeTV Network's "MXC" theme song, in the background of MTV's The Osbornes, The Real World, and much more...

Bumblefoot works out of his studio in Princeton NJ where he collaborates with artists as a songwriter/producer and writes for publishing companies, video games and TV shows. Bumblefoot is a volunteer for the MS Research Foundation (www.msrf.org), a non-profit organization that donates funds directly to Multiple Sclerosis research.

This is the best purchase i've made... maybe EVER! any and all music i listen to, i get bored of... but somehow after listening to this C.d as much as i have, i still love it! This is the c.d to get any fresh BBF fans, they'll be hooked from here on out.

  • Hey Baby, I love CD Baby! & my new Bumblefoot CD!

I know Ron Thal from years back living on Staten Island. He has always been amazing. Everyone knew he'd go on to a successful music career. Ron (Bumblefoot) Thals brother Jeff is drumming on this CD. Jeff is up there with the top drummers. He's awesome. This CD is my new favorite. It's spinin' non stop since I bought it. Yeah Baby!

  • Tuesday in nancy Ron Thal, excellent, guitarist
    author: Vince

Yeah, Tuesday in Nancy is about a tuesday in nancy France. I myself went to the MAI in nancy where Ron Thal did classes. Ron Thal has got to be one of the only guitar players not taking himself seriously while having one of the most wicked and very particular style I have come across.

  • perfect fusion

If you are a guitarist who thinks he has heard it all before- buy this cd and feel humbled.

  • Some great hooks, great licks and great vocals. A real treat for your ears.

Having downloaded several of his songs already I sort of knew what to expect from Ron Thal and/or Bumblefoot, so I was quite excited when it came through the post. Still, the range of styles and various moods he likes to integrate into all of his songs continue to impress me, and it appears the man is full of surprises. I'm gonna have my head stuck in this album for a long time.

  • Great!

  • I'm Happy!

This is a guitar player who just got so bored with the traditional style of playing that he just had to step it up not 1, but 6 or 7 notches! And as a result, not only did he make this music that much more fun to listen to, but through his playing he mocks & laughs at all typical guitar shredders who think they're that good. I am amazed, and content. My life is complete. I can die now.

I think Barking Star doesn't realize that this is the first Bumblefoot CD made 5 years ago, and everything Bumblefoot is about. He's more than a guitarist. He's a great singer, and producer (I know the Q*Ball CD is here at cdbaby), he's a composer for a big publishing company. Guitar is his main instrument, but a small part of what he does, and he's said in many interviews that he's not looking to be a guitar hero. And if you listen to the vocals on his following CDs, his voice is far from thin! Check out the Uncool cd for a funny ride, and the 9.11 cd for something deep. He's his own label, webmaster (www.ronthal.com is hysterical!!), and sets a good example for independent musicians. Plus he donates all his money from 9.11 to disaster relief, and is a boardmember at a Multiple Sclerosis organization, and sets a good example for human beings :) I think you get to know the entire person through his music more than any other artist, from the silly side to the serious side. That's what I like most about his albums.

  • labor of love from a budding guitar monster
    author: Barking Star

This CD is not for everyone's tastes, with Ron Thal's sometimes thin, sometimes manic vocals, his goofy lyrics and eccentric arrangements. But the guitar... that's what it all comes down to. You can tell Thal listens to a wide range of guitar players, and has absorbed their styles very effectively. From Eddie Van Halen to Danny Gatton, from Terry Kath to Thurston Moore, you'll find enough different sounds in his soloing to reward listen after listen. His technique is already flawless, and as Thal grows and gains maturity, he could become one of the best guitarists on Earth.

  • Great !

Frog Gun, your question is not correctly asked. It's not Who but Where is nancy ? And The Answer is : In France. There's the M.A.I. there. MAI = Music Academy International I Think He wrote this song a Tuesday in Nancy, France. I don't think He wrote this song when he was making love to a girl called Nancy :)

  • WOW!
    author: Linda

Watching this guy play guitar is like watching someone walk on water! Your asking yourself "Is this guy really doing this?" "Should I be bowing or something?" If you can't buy this CD; beg, borrow or steal it!

Holy macaroni! Ron Thal is the best guitar player on the big blue marble. This disc makes my bum pucker! I must be a cactus. Buy it. Who is Nancy? Sometimes I like walnuts on my ice cream. My ass has grown into a chair, but now receeding like my backfur. Thank you Ron for the therapy. I'm still dreaming of steak. Get this disc... it will all make sense.
