Album Notes

"This Void Beyond Measure" is the instrumental version of Bunker Soldier's new release "The Debris Field." Many requests were made after "Triple Threat" for Bunker to write material for films, tv and commercials. Most of the requests wanted instrumental versions of his songs. So this cd is for any die hard Bunker Soldier fan, DJ, or music producer looking to remix tracks or include them in any commercial endeavor. Bunker Soldier has licensed to his songs to the Boeing Corporation, has been used on radio commercials and as bumper music and is looking forward to getting his material in films and/or tv soon. A quick description of "The Debris Field" is below.

Bunker Soldier, an underground electronic music pioneer since 1994, releases his first full length cd since 1999. "The Debris Field" takes his music in a new direction as this cd is the result of 6 months of hard work at the Panhandle House Studios in Denton, Texas with producer Erik Herbst. Erik produced Bunker's EP "Triple Threat." That cd received rave reviews for its' production. "The Debris Field" is a magical audioscape and is flawless in its' production, also. Each song will grab you in with a hook and leave you eagerly anticipating with what's next around the corner. Elements of U2, Coldplay, Moby, Paul Van Dyk and of course, OMD, are found throughout the songs. Bunker Soldier is well known for his hard hitting industrial dancefloor anthems. This cd tends to walk the fine line between synthpop and powerpop. He has never hesitated mixing styles or musical genres since 1996 when he dabbled in hip hop and techno. "The Debris Field" is his best work to date, showcasing his ability to write catchy songs and showing that he is about to break through the underground once and for all.

This is a great album that I've found some uses for in radio production. I'm glad Bunker Soldier has provided these instrumental versions, and I'd add that they're also fun to listen to. Good job!

Exhibits a warmth and humanity lacking in most electronica

Naming yourself after an OMD song always will get my attention, and Bunker Soldier doesn’t disappoint. As a fan of instrumental music, I was drawn to Tim Tyran’s latest “The Debris Field” done as “This Void Beyond Measure,” the same tunes without vocals. Through all the technology flows a warmth and humanity often lacking in electronica. The layered synths, keyboards and electronic percussion would be little more than noise without the sense of melody and dynamics Bunker Soldier demonstrates on these tunes. There is “When All is Lost,” a simple rhythm that steadily builds to a cathartic finish; “Flying (I want to go),” a traditional bouncy trance song; and “In Rose’s Garden,” a quiet piano-driven ballad. Bunker Soldier does McCluskey and Humphreys proud.
