Album Notes

Shirley Bunnell's music is guitar-driven and introspective. While her sound draws from the influences of artists like Shawn Colvin, Sarah McLachlan and Toad the Wet Sprocket, her lyrics draw from her honesty and vulnerability. And with Shirley's rich, passionate voice delivering the material, she's drawn rave reviews: "a rare, pure talent " .. "thoughtful, challenging and engaging" .."inspired (and inspiring) lyrics" .. "a top notch songwriter" .. "a great voice singing honest-to-God melodies."

Shirley's music has been acclaimed by critics and has caught the attention of industry executives. Her work can be heard on the albums of Kathie Lee Gifford, Jim Brickman and Maranatha Music.

As a performer, Shirley has shared her original music in amphitheaters, coffeehouses, churches and clubs from coast to coast. A native Californian now living in Connecticut, she's performed all over the country, sometimes backed by a full band, other times as part of a trio or simply accompanying herself on the guitar. The gifted musicians in her current band recreate the full sound of her CDs, with rich guitar work and lush harmonies.

As a recording artist, Shirley has a major label release, two solo albums, credits as lead and background vocalist on several other artists' albums and has a host of radio and TV jingles on
her resume.

Intimate portrait of Growing through difficulties
author: Sharon Griswold
I can't even begin to express how this CD has touched not only me but my husband as well. The song Release has challenged us in our releasing our hold on things and people in our lives to Trust our Lord to do what he needs to do in us in order to mold us like Jesus. Then there's Ruby Shoes. It is funky and the muscians and vocals are right on, great ensemble. Thank you Jesus for music. Sharon Griswold

I came accross Release mostly by chance. I decided to buy it and wao, was that a good decision. Shirley Bunnell has a great voice. Gentle but with enough strengh to go along with some inspired (and inspiring) lyrics. January is my favorite right now, but the album is solid all the way through.
