THE CD:
The Empty Lake Of Sanity is a rare four track EP with the original demo recordings of the band, released as a limited edition CDR in 2006.
The cover art is "The City", a work by the artist Christina Hagerfors. This CD includes the song Black Life which was recorded in the famous basement studios of Hoxton Hall in Shoreditch. The song was later engineered and mixed by the band at Against The Stream studio, where the rest of the tracks were recorded and produced.
If you like the melancholic tunes of Smog, Galaxie 500, Luna, The Chameleons, Swans, Joy Division, Eleventh Dream Day, or even the gentle sadness of Pram and the psychedelic pop of Broadcast, then you should definitely own this CD.
THE BAND:
London-based Buried Birds is a musical project with avant-pop and dark wave influences.
Created by singer-songwriter Chris Salatelis in 2004 when he started recording and performing his own songs together with multi-instrumentalist & producer Janos Agocsi under the name Buried Birds. Collaborations also include viola player and composer Andreas Petrovic who has performed as well as taken part in the recordings playing viola and flute.
The music of Buried Birds is a smooth flow of sounds that creates an atmosphere of torture and suffering; it goes back to the origins of life, the nature of existence, and explores the feelings of alianation, decay, agony, and despair.
REVIEWS:
jan 2009 | OverThrow webzine
"Another great band that I stumbled upon online. Elements of folk and rock with an eerie twist of modern & old school alternative. Every track I’ve heard has been unique while still retaining the bizarre aura of what is known as Buried Birds."
