Album Notes

The two years separating this release from 2009's album Pink Lions strengthened the primary focus of Buried Birds on the avoidance of repetition. By building the skeleton of Katoptromancy on raw analogue sounds of mid 80s Casios and proto-modular Korgs, the previously secondary synths are now promoted to the dignity of the lead. Katoptromancy is a recording that sums up the usual working process of Buried Birds and gives hints of how it comes about that dark music can actually be flexible and fresh.
