Album Notes

Burkhart is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist based in the LA area. His music is passionate, smart and features his distinct evocative vocal style. His music incorporates many diverse musical influences from classic rock, world beat, to hip-hop drum loops. The songs are groove oriented, undeniably catchy, but maintain a rawness and honesty that sets this CD apart from other adult alternative releases...from rock to electonica...check out the single release “Stone” on your local radio station...or try Evelyne, a story driven rock radio piece moved by some amazing beat programming...a bass-funk groove-smack classic bass-hook layered over a mind-blowing loop...the story of a man obsessed with a woman who claims to have been abducted by a UFO...Several tracks feature the legendary drummer Alvin Taylor (session alumni for Barry White, Elton John, George Harrison...just to name a few)...check out the guitar driven Hurricane, or Dream...filled with languid chords and heartbreaking sweet slide guitar...Spinnin' Round also features Alvin, and a video directed by film-maker/director Finn Riley...available for viewing at MacCool.net or YouTube...Burkhart's music is familiar...accessible but very original. Described by industry and fans as "in the genre of Peter Gabriel, Seal or Sting but with an edge"..."heartfelt, sophisticated but always that solid beat". The Burkhart project started at the LA based Pulahaole Production Studio with the guidance of producer Deric Morin, artist/co-producer Kurt Burkhart and recording engineer Michael "Gus" Agostinelli. With Burkhart's powerful lead vocals and his signature in-the-pocket driving guitar, "Gus" playing monster bass and Deric laying down rhythm/percussion and keys/loops...the sound is powerful...the live band is a must-see...These guys are veterans and really move a room...if you hear of a show in your area, check it out! Recently, Burkhart and Pulahaole began collaboration with a modern ballet company in the Monterey area which incorporates dance with live Burkhart music from the CD as well as writing an entire evening of music/dance based on Joseph Campbell's work. Look for the Spector Dance Company under the direction of Fran Spector-Atkins and watch for "Rock Ballet" or "The Myth Project" performances in your area. Burkhart and Pulahaole Production are busy writing and recording songs for the next disc, and should be ready to release it by the Spring of 2008. Look for The Burkhart Band when in the LA area. I first heard "Spinnin' Round" on Maccool Productions' website. I think everyone can empathize with its' message. I've waited a long time for this CD to come out and I'm happy that it is finally here! The music on this CD is warm, heartfelt, and incredibly easy to listen to. Very well done, well compiled and well-sung! Bravo!
