Album Notes

Guitarist, singer/songwriter Burl Sheldon has been performing for 30 years. He's opened for Cheryl Wheeler, Laura Love, Livingston Taylor, John Hammond, and The Wilders. His live performances have been broadcast on West Coast Live and River City Folk. His 1996 CD release, Tidal Lore, was an independent feature on NPR's World Cafe syndicated radio show with David Dye.

Busy Makin' Money is an eclectic collection of new music by Sheldon and his wife Nancy Berland. Broad musical influences include swing, delta blues, old time, reggae, and jazz. The CD features stand-out performances by some of Alaska's finest acoustic musicians. Instumentation includes: fingerstyle and rhythm guitar, 5-string banjo, mandolin, fiddle, acoustic and electric bass, percussion, piano, tenor sax and trombone. Sheldon's rich baritone stands alone on some tunes and is complimented by strong female harmony vocals on others.

Sheldon and Berland have deep roots in Haines, Alaska, where they live, work, and play.

A great mix of tunes: from comedy to serious
author: James Alborough
This album plays really well. Some of the tracks are cleverly funny and others are provide cutting critiques of the war and our society. And even if you are not into listening to the lyrics, the tunes are really melodic and easy to listen to as you go about your life!
