"Unlike so many bands in the power metal genre Burning Shadows brings much new to the table. Each member does his own thing to create a unique sound. In 'New Dawn Arise' the rhythm section brings some interesting surprises. Bassist Aaron El-Zeftawy plays an amazing, complimentary, and catchy bass fill in the beginning and end of the song, while drummer David Spencer plays a unique and unexpected drum beat pattern during the chorus. Guitarist Tim Regan and guitarist/vocalist Greg Jones rhythm and lead parts are just full of clarity and expression. All throughout the CD instances of musical brilliance are heard."
-Danger and Dissonance's review of Into the Primordial
Recording for Into the Primordial began at a small studio in summer of 2006 with Tim Regan & Greg Jones on guitar, Matt Ibach on bass, and a new drummer, David Spencer, on the throne. Much of the recording was complete when the studio broke contact with the band. By 2007, BURNING SHADOWS had acquired had another rhythm section: Alex Rudinger on drums and Aaron El-Zeftawy on bass. Eager to get the album out, the recording was rescued from the original studio and finally finished at the Halls of Glory in the summer of 2007. A guest vocalist was lined up to record on the album, but failed to show up to any recording sessions. Greg Jones handed vocal duties on the disc, since he had been doing them live for quite some time. Finally, as a bonus, it was decided to rerecord two songs from 2002's The Darkest Winter EP with the then-current lineup and to include them on the album.
Into the Primordial Lineup:
Greg Jones: Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals
Tim Regan: Rhythm Guitar, Vocals
Aaron El-Zeftawy: Bass, Vocals
Dave Spencer: Drums, Keys (Bonus Tracks)
