UNDERGROUND HIP HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL
Dam. I almost forgot what uncut hip hop sounds like. I was surfing the site and it led me to BURNS BR. I checked out his music and I was impressed. What shocked me is he is actually saying something. Not just murder death kill like most of these fake @#!$# rappers out there. His music makes me proud to be down with Hip Hop. Keep doing your thing Burns. Love the album.

The MojoKing of Absolute Power
A tweener
In basketball a tweener is usually a player who is to too small to play power foward but not quite quick enough to play small forward. On his debut album Burns BR seems to be a hip-hop version of a tweener.
3rd Degree Burns has a bit of a split personality. Is it made for underground heads or mainstream fans? I it revolutionary or average street knucklehead tale? Full of substance or all about style?
In fact it is all of these things....and in some ways it takes away from the whole. Cuts like Problem, Burns and very bouncy Cloud 11 have clear radio appeal. Addictive beats, a flawless flow and the rather average, non-exceptional lyrics that you come to expect from your local hip-hop station. Burns is never BAD lyrically, but I can't say that he's overly impressive on these tracks.
But then on tracks like The Truth and O.F.B. Burns proves to be intellegent and reflective. Burns does a great job at depicting the problems of society and the inner city. Proving that he has depth and quiet a bit of lyrical skill.
His role a tweener is displayed perfectly in Keep Quiet. The chorus talks of revolution but the verses are rather typical. Smoking, drinking, gun toting and making sure your favorite rapper has atleast 2 charges.
Overall I'd say 3rd Degree Burns is an interesting album, and Burns Br is a kid with talent. As a debut it shows he has a ton of potential. It all depends on what he grows into. Will he stay stuck in the middle, or push himself to consitentcy. Maybe he can even transcend the game and do a bit of everything well. It remains to be seen if we have a Keith Van Horn, an all-star like Kenyon Martin, or a super star like Kevin Garnett at hand. Personally I feel like I will be bragging one day that I have this debut when Burns Br becomes an all-star.

Yo cats dont really understand the movement that is taking place with this album. "3rd Degree Burns" has no specific formula, which shows the RAW of hiphop/rap music. This is definitely a must to listen to.

I always overlooked this album, but when i finally check it out I have nothing more to say but WOW.
Burns definitly put it down on this joint.
I bought 2 copies to give to one of my friends.

BURNS keep it up.
