Burnt Fur started when Scott Harrison and Patrik Tirda decided to cover the Madonna song “Gambler” just for fun. Using a drum machine, an old keyboard and a guitar, the end result was a campy, sonic swirl of noise sounding more like Ciccone Youth than the pop original. They considered this a success. After a re-union with previous band members Ian St. Germain and Shana Slater they set out to create fun, electronic music inspired by their influences of experimental guitar bands, industrial music, New Wave, Gothic rock, and classic video games.

Amidst the fun of recording cover songs at home, a strong set of original songs were taking shape. The band set out to create an album designed for each member. Scott Harrison takes the helm with their first single "Vitriol," a mash of electronics, guitars, and lyrics filled with equal parts of anger and apathy. Two cover songs were selected for b-sides, New Order's "Ultraviolence" and a cover of the first b-side he owned, The Human League's "Seconds." The expansive b-sides add to the over-all classic New Wave sound with fuzzy synthesized strings, explosive drum pads, bleeping video game noise, as well as provide a hint of where the band is going with their original material.
