Burn the Maps is a mostly acoustic band based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They write original songs that create a unique blend of traditional acoustic sounds and fretless bass with intricate three-part harmonies, anchored by tasteful drumming. Their debut release, Terra Incognita, provides twelve unique tracks that invoke their multi-layered, indie-folk-pop roots.
The group was founded in the summer of 2009 and the members of Burn the Maps have many years of experience performing all sorts of music including pop, rock, folk, Americana, jazz, classical, and even opera.
Burn the Maps consists of Kate Aronson (guitar, vocals, banjo, mandolin), Mike Kimlicko (fretless bass, vocals, guitar), John Litchenberg (drums), and Paul Lilley (guitar, vocals, bass, ukulele).
The members of Burn the Maps are inspired by artists such as The Swell Season, Death Cab for Cutie, Ingrid Michaelson, The Frames, Coldplay, U2, Bon Iver, Wilco, R.E.M., Old 97s, Radiohead, Nickel Creek, The Avett Brothers, and many more.
