The band formed on the campus of St Johns University, in Staten Island NY, in 2001. Tony met Chaps and instantly they had great musical chemistry. They began writing songs together in the year 2000. Nick played bass in the band, "Present Tense" and had been friends with Tony from his high school days. He began jamming with the band and Chaps (who also plays Bass) moved into the Lead guitar role. They played with various drummers, basically anyone they could find, until John Parmo came into their lives and the rest as they say is history.
The band began working on original songs, played a few shows, and decided to jump right into the studio. Looking back, they were not nearly ready to record a full length album, but after a year" Rock n Roll Machine" (their first album) was complete. Very few copies actually exist, as the band feels the album was a little rough around the edges. Though not bad for a band that was just starting out.
The shows and song writing continued for the next 8 years in what kind of feels like a blur. Burnt Youth is lucky to have a very large amount of friends/fans, who come out in big numbers, to see their Live Shows. The band does not play often (around 4-8 times per year), but when they do their loyal fans always turn out and help create, a "Party" like atmosphere, that really energizes the band.
In 2008 the band played a show for 101.9 RXP D.J. Rich Russo (who was going from borough to borough uniting indy bands and to check out the scene) He liked Burnt Youth enough to play 2 of their songs on his show Anything Anything on 101.9, "Walk of Shame" & " Resurrection". A big moment for any artist is to hear their song on the radio and this helped refocus the band.
Burnt Youth decided it was time to start recording a new album, but not just any album. They wanted it to be a "Greatest Hits" of sorts. The set out to create the feel of going to a Live Burnt Youth Show and also incorporate, the full range of sounds, the band had created from 2001 till now. After many long nights in the studio, after work, & on the weekends (whenever they could find time) Burnt Youth Recorded. It took 2 years and various recording studios/methods, but they prevailed. Burnt Youth proudly presents "Bestest Hits 2001-2010" which was released on April 14th, 2012 at Dock Street Underground on Staten Island.
