In a rich, thick voice Joy sings her own heart ripping lyrics over the top of a pyschedelic acoustic funky trio.
Her music is right at home in the AAA format with the likes of Joan Osborn, Shawn Colvin and Melissa Etheridge.
Joy writes the lyrics and co-writes the music with guitarist Howard Anderson. Both Howard and bassist Dave Keif work with plenty of well know musicians and artists. They have taken time out of thier busy schedules because they believe in the music and Joy as an artist. Lawrence Perpoli, the drummer, is hired by singers because he always put the song and singer first. He is a true innovator on tunes like "All in you Head" and Public Consumption."
Playing in Thousand Oaks, California, at little club in town she managed to get over 600 people on her mailing list in only a few months. Last September Joy and her following finally found a club in Los Angeles where everyone feels at home: Highland Grounds. Owner Rich Brenner states "Joy is one of the best singers I've ever heard."
Joy recently got the attention of manager / agent, Lena Michals who is diligently shopping her CD to Music Supervisors for Film / TV and Executives at Record Labels.
This March, Laney Goodan host of Women in Music on National Public Radio sydicated in 72 markets including Boston, San Francisco and New York, picked 7 of Joy's tunes to add to her playlist. Laney says "Your music is quite deep but assessable: stories that people will get and relate to."
Joy and the band perform at leat 4 times a month at clubs, benefits, local street fairs, and festival concerts opening up for touring acts like Pat Benatar and Buffalo Springfield.
