Album Notes

" One awesome songwriter ! This guy has talent and energy"
Steve Baughman - Fingerstyle Guitar Master - Mel Bay Artist.

Bus Stop Eddy is a big rock in the middle of the Lower Haw River in
North Carolina just above a rapid called Gabriel's Bend. Savvy river
runners would 'eddy out' behind it to scout the rapid below. Hurricane
rains have washed the rock away but the name remains.

Bus Stop Eddy is also the name of the ever evolving musical collective
created by Folk/Funk Troubadour Eric Bannan. Eric is a
Multi-Instrumental Performing Songwriter based in Pittsboro, NC. A
spellbinding and humorous story teller, Eric is comfortable on either
side of the Acoustic/Electric fence. His songs are driven by guitar
grooves honed from 25 years of making people dance.

Dan does not talk much, his harmonica playing says it all. A seasoned
veteran with 30 years of gigs under his belt, Dan is fluent in many styles
and his playing is the perfect complement to Eric's voice and energetic guitar
and mandolin playing.

This collection of acoustic postcards from Eric's inner world is his
third CD and covers a broad spectrum of human experience. Postcards
contains funny, up tempo tunes and tragic tales of loss and redemption
sandwiched in between sharp character studies of broken gamblers and
narcoleptic truck drivers.

With influences that include John Prine, Jimmy Buffet, James Brown, Miles Davis,
Muddy Waters and the Muppets, Bus Stop Eddy serves up a dish of Funky Contemporary
Folk and Humorous Blues.

Amazing look inside the head and heart of Eric Bannan
author: Danielle Newton
Every once in a while, a CD lands in my lap that I wouldn't normally listen to. I'm a Counting Crows kind of girl, who loves really deep, meaningful lyrics and a good beat to rock out to in my own white-girl-can't-dance kind of way. So at first listen the song Ocracoke drew me and wouldn't let me go. I absolutely love the harmonica riff half way through the song! The lyrics are catchy and fun, and I'm finding myself wanting to sing along with Eric. On to the 2nd song, the main chorus line "would the simple act of loving her Trigger my Redemption?" is a great transition from the happy-go-lucky feeling of Ocracoke to a song that's soulfully trying to bridge our past and our regrets with the hope of present and future happiness. On the 3rd song, I agree with Eric - I love the smell of diesel fumes and I'm happy on my bicycle, too! The 4th song, Postcards, is also the name of the CD - is about lack of communication and thus, the failing of some relationship. I can hear it now, "I had all these postcards, but no stamps, and no way to buy any..." or "The cell phone tower must've been out, because I had no service, and I couldn't find a pay phone anywhere!" Anyone who's been in a bad relationship will find a smile in Postcards somewhere. Moving on to a happier song, Squirrels - being a hound dog owner and a yard with lots of squirrels, I found myself singing this song in my head last night as I lay down to bed. If I could teach my dog to fly...oh yeah! I'd rather sing a song about Squirrrrrrr-uhhh-lllllls! Okay, if you want to know more about this CD, just buy it. I promise you'll love it.
